The Old Vic Archives

The Royal Victoria Hall Foundation – Old Vic archives are housed at The University of Bristol Theatre Collection.

The archive dates from 1818 and encompasses programmes, photographs, prompt copies, posters, press cuttings and many, many other documents.   The Old Vic material officially ends in 1963, when the theatre became the home of the National Theatre, although the Foundation’s own records continue to the present time.  The University of Bristol Theatre Collection also holds the Old Vic archive from 1976 to 1997 and selected documents from 1963-1976.
